Perched high above a leafy suburb in Middle Cove, this home enjoys panoramic bushland and district views - which is why the homeowners wanted to extend the outdoor living space and take advantage of the never-to-be-built-out view. A key part of this extension was a suspended deck off the existing living area, complete with wet edge pool and attached spa.
As the site was on a sloping cliff with existing lawn area, the pool had to be structurally formed above ground. Good side access meant a 3.5t machine could be brought in.
The 10 x 4m pool has depths of 1m to 1.8m, and both pool and spa are fully tiled with vibrant blue glass tiles. Natural stone has been used for the pool coping, which extends to a sun deck and the outdoor terrace which flows from the home's existing indoor living spaces. Fine Australian pebble was used for the balance tank, and glass fencing was chosen to ensure the views weren't impacted and could be enjoyed from indoor and alfresco living areas.
The location was perfect for a wet edge pool, as it gives the impression of the water flowing into the bushland below.
At night the pool is illuminated by Aquaquip Aquastar lighting, and the pool's swimming season is extended with gas heating. The pool also has a sand filter.
