This outstanding spa pool is a contemporary design employing a number of concepts which have been integrated into a
unique spa that offers endless possibilities.
The spa is generous in size, measuring about 2.5 metres on each axis, it is vaguely triangular in shape although all the
corners are curved and the corner opposite the tiled wall curves gently to make for increased size. The spa is fully tiled with imported glass tiles of a dark green. On one side of the spa there is a wall that runs the full width
and extends about 400mm above the waterline. It is finished with Italian glass tiles that match those used along the pool
waterline. Additionally there is a feature of border tiles creating a striking pattern in green and white. The top of the wall and the spa coping are finished in terracotta tiles, to match with the pool coping.
The spa is equipped with an underwater light and features a fibre optic light along the entire waterline. It is gas heated
and equipped with twelve spa jets instead of the usual four, offering unprecedented levels of comfort and spa effect. The spa jets are driven by an air blower and two spa pumps. Chemical balance is maintained by a sensor chlorinator
and pH controller.
The spa features the inclusion of a sheer descent waterfall that emerges from the tiled wall above the spa. The spa water
is pressurised and emerges in a clear sheet from just underneath the terracotta tiles. The water feature operates from the spa pump.
An unusual feature of this spa is that it is interlinked with the pool, so the spa overflow runs into the pool and should the
spa level run too low, it can be refilled from the pool. In fact, solar heated water normally used to heat the pool can be diverted to heat the spa instead, which dramatically alters the amount of gas heating required to achieve desired
temperatures.
This astounding spa design has been located in a walled alcove that has been built onto the house which also contains
a sauna next to the spa. The spa is therefore available for use in any weather. One wall is completely open, although a canvas blind has been installed in order to enclose the area completely should this be desired. This design creates a
luxurious environment in which to unwind from the cares of the day. It is made complete by the addition of complete
automation of all its operation. |
